The problem
Most companies measure satisfaction in confusing ways, with no standard and no benchmark — and end up not knowing whether the customer would actually recommend the brand.
- No idea whether customers would recommend you
- Satisfaction measured differently each time, with no comparable standard
- Finding out the customer was unhappy far too late
- Feedback spreadsheets nobody turns into action
- No benchmark to know whether the result is good or bad
How Loyvox solves it
Loyvox calculates NPS automatically (% promoters − % detractors), with the standard 0-to-10 question plus an open question to understand why — and shows the score in real time as answers arrive.

How to calculate
Formula
NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors
Promoters are those who answer 9 or 10 to the recommendation question; detractors, those who answer 0 to 6. Scores of 7 and 8 are passive: they count towards the response total, but neither add to nor subtract from the score.
Step by step
Classify the answers
Split the 0-to-10 scores into three groups: promoters (9-10), passives (7-8) and detractors (0-6).
Work out the percentages
Divide the number of promoters by the total number of answers, and do the same for detractors.
Subtract
The percentage of detractors is subtracted from the percentage of promoters. The result is a number between -100 and 100.
Worked example
Hypothetical example, for illustration only
Imagine your survey received 100 answers:
- 60 people answered 9 or 10 (promoters)
- 25 people answered 7 or 8 (passives)
- 15 people answered 0 to 6 (detractors)
How to interpret the result
- NPS ranges from -100 to 100. Any value above zero already means more promoters than detractors.
- The trend matters more than the number on its own: an NPS of 30 climbing month by month usually says more about the health of the business than an NPS of 50 standing still.
- Compare against your own company's history first, before comparing with market averages — scoring culture varies a great deal between sectors.
Common mistakes
- Measuring once and never again — with no series over time, the number cannot tell you whether the company is improving or getting worse.
- Looking only at the score and ignoring the open "why" question — the number shows what is happening, not the reason.
- Comparing your NPS with a company from another sector — scoring culture varies a great deal between segments.
- Calculating it from very few answers (a few dozen) and treating the result as statistically stable.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a good NPS?+
An NPS above 0 is already positive; above 50 is excellent and above 70 is world class. What matters most is comparing with your sector average and, above all, with your own progress over time.
What is the difference between relational and transactional NPS?+
Relational measures overall brand perception (asked periodically). Transactional measures one specific interaction — right after a purchase or a support call.
How does Loyvox calculate NPS?+
By subtracting the percentage of detractors (0–6) from the percentage of promoters (9–10). The calculation is automatic and the score appears in real time.
What is the difference between NPS and CSAT?+
NPS measures loyalty and recommendation (long term); CSAT measures satisfaction with a single interaction. Many teams use both together.
Do I have to pay to create an NPS survey?+
